Ontario 5K Reindeer Run!

Thank you for participating! See you in 2024!

We're turning it loose; put on those 5K shoes!

The City of Ontario is proud to continue its sponsorship of the Annual 5K Reindeer Run and Rudolph's Dash Fun Run. The race continues to evolve into a community and family event with over 4,000 participants and growing! The City of Ontario has joined efforts with the Ontario-Montclair Promise Scholars, an award-winning program designed to assist Ontario-Montclair youth by helping them prepare for their journey toward a college education.

All proceeds from the race will be donated to their program and the City's Empowerment Scholarship, which allows Ontario community members from low-income backgrounds to participate in recreation activities, classes, and programs that will enrich their lives. The City is committed to providing a safe, healthy environment for all our community members to thrive.

The 5K Reindeer Run will begin and end in downtown Ontario! The 5K Reindeer Run is the perfect race for runners of all levels! Participants can run or walk, or families and friends may participate together.

The family-friendly Rudolph’s Dash begins at the Start/Finish line of the 5K Reindeer Run. Kids can run or walk this shorter course, or families may participate together. Rudolph’s Dash is geared toward younger participants, families with strollers, or anyone who wants to join the race! Join us after the race at Rudolph's Roundup Area, where kids can participate in exercise activities and craft booths!

Join the fun!

the community comes together to strengthen our region by encouraging our students to pursue an education after high school. When we help them become successful and contributing adults, our entire region benefits from a brighter, more productive future.

The Promise Scholars initiative is a partnership between the Ontario-Montclair School District (OMSD) and Chaffey Joint Union High School District along with Chaffey Community College, California State University San Bernardino, California State University Bakersfield, Cal Poly Pomona, and the University of La Verne. Promise Scholars works closely with City of Ontario, Inland So.Cal Empire United Way, and local businesses to help students achieve their college and career dreams. Promise Scholars is one of the first universal, comprehensive college-going programs of its kind in San Bernardino County.

In 2013, Promise Scholars received the League of California Cities Helen Putnam Award of Excellence and recently was selected by the Bill & Melinda Grants Foundation to take part in their “To and Through” Advising Challenge Initiative.

College access is supported by a promise of scholarship assistance for all OMSD students who finish high school through the Chaffey Joint Union High School District and go on to one of the partner colleges. The Promise Scholars Scholarship is for OMSD students graduating from a CJUHSD high school in 2016 and all successive OMSD students, who attend one of these higher education institutions. The Promise Scholars also includes a commitment to help students as they progress from elementary to middle to high school, and then on to college, with field trips to colleges, parent presentations, college fairs, and assistance with college applications and financial aid forms. Promise Scholars works closely with the City of Ontario to implement Ontario's Community College Promise Program, which provides two years of tuition to any California Community College.

While students continue to require the basics of a K-12 education, Promise Scholars will ensure more students have access to higher education and technical training so they have the skills to be prepared for the future, for themselves, their families, and their community. Advanced education and technical skills, means a more prepared workforce, which impacts higher-wage job development in the region. The bottom-line is that access to college benefits us all, and this work is a necessary part of preparing our communities for the future.

Ontario Empowerment Scholarship

The Empowerment Scholarship Program provides Ontario community members from low-income backgrounds the opportunity to participate in recreation activities, classes, and programs that will enrich their lives. We are committed to providing a safe, healthy environment for all our community members to thrive. This program makes it possible for Ontario residents to be positively impacted through recreation services and have it extend back to their families, schools and community.

Formerly the Youth Empowerment Scholarship (Y.E.S.!), the Empowerment Scholarship Program has funded over 1,000 children since 2014. This year, the program has expanded to include community members of all ages. Scholarships can be used towards any activities and classes that the City of Ontario Recreation & Community Services Department offers, including Lifeguard certification courses. A large portion of the 5K Reindeer Run net proceeds contributes to this program. To find out more about this program, or to donate to the fund, please visit www.OntarioCA.gov/Recreation or call (909) 395-2020.
